I appreciate the little thoughtful gifts as much as the next person. However, after recently purging our entire house of a ton of extra
crap stuff, I would much rather avoid the knick-knacks and receive a gift card. They are something I want that is just for me. It’s hard for us mama’s to think about ourselves most of the time, but when we get a gift card, we’re happily forced to go shopping.
One thing that can be annoying, though, is having to carry them around everywhere. My wallet only has so much space. So usually, I take only what’s needed-which leads to me forgetting something. Look up “mommy brain,” it’s a thing.
Recently I was introduced to something that takes care of all that. It’s a free app called Gyft.
With the Gyft app, I can upload my gift cards-It’s super easy.
Find the store you have a gift card for, enter the card number, and viola! The Cheesecake Factory card I found hidden in my wallet the other day, is ready to use!!
Now I can get rid of the plastic, and I know how much I have left to spend.
When I’m ready to redeem my card, I’ll go to the store (in this case, a restaurant), open the app, they’ll scan it right off of my phone. Awesome! Done and done!
You can also buy a Gyft card for a friend, simply sign in and choose a retailer. Some of my favorites are Starbucks, Target, and Regal Cinemas, (but they have over 200 to choose from). Next, select an amount.
Send it to them via text, email, or Facebook. And if you want to make it more personal, you can attach a video message to send along with it. It doesn’t get more personal than that! And if you can’t decide what type of gift card your friend would like, give them a Gyft card, that way, they can choose from the huge list of retailers.
When you buy gift cards from Gyft, you also earn Gyft reward points towards future gift card purchases. So whether you’re buying for a friend, or if you want to buy a card for yourself, you get 1 Gyft Rewards point per dollar you spend.
With this type of reward system, you could use Gyft as a budgeting tool. If I like go to Starbucks every other day, but I need to stick to a budget for the month, I could purchase a Gyft card to Starbucks for myself. It would help reign me in and stay within my monthly budget. I spend the money anyway, I may as well get 1% back. Seems like a win-win.
Also, when you download the app, you get a free $5 gift card that can be redeemable with any store available on the app. (It must be used within 24 hours and a $15 gift card purchase must be made. So, with the $5 free, you would be spending $10.)
Now for the Giveaway! The good folks at Gyft want to give one of my lovely readers a $25 Gyft card!
