I thought I might give a tribute to two of the amazing fathers in my life.
First, there is my own father. He has taught me many things. We disagree on plenty, but I have a lot of qualities that are directly from him. Even ask my husband. He has been known to call me “Rex” a time or two.
My dad has shown me how a daughter should be loved and how a girl deserves to be treated. For that, I am thankful. And it has been such a pleasure watching him with my kids as their grandpa. Seeing my son run past grandma so he can jump into grandpa’s arms will never get old. (Photo credit: Nicole Traylor) I don’t want to get too sappy, so I’ll just say, I love you dad. And I am so lucky to have you. Happy Father’s Day!My sister, my dad, and me. (Photo credit: Kelly Nortrom)
Next, there is my husband.
When you choose your mate before you have kids, you have no idea what kind of parent you’re going to get out of them. My husband and I were married for a glorious seven years before we had our oldest. For better or worse, kids change you. You and your spouse will either be able to adapt and stick together, or those tiny little dictators will break you.
I am so fortunate my husband is such an amazing father. He loves spending time with the kids. He takes them places without me often (especially if I need a breather). There is no one I would rather share this insane parenting journey with. Besides, I don’t think there is anyone else out there that would be able to deal with the psycho-crazy mama version of me except him. Thank you Brendan for being an incredible dad to our kids. I love you. Happy Father’s Day!
