When I became a parent, I learned rather quickly that I had to figure out how to be resourceful. Unbeknownst to me, finding alternate uses for things to help out around the house was part of my new job.
We all know that K-Y personal lube is used to help with intimacy. That is its main purpose. But what you may not know is, there are several things it can do to help out around the house.
So, aside from making sex fun again after having babies, here are 9 Other Uses For K-Y:
1. Massage Oil
It’s made to glide, right? That’s what you need in a good massage oil. It’s also a great moisturizer so you’re softening your skin while getting the kinks worked out.
2. Eye make-up remover
I can be super lazy when it comes to removing make-up. I don’t wear it very often, so sometimes I forget it’s even on! Then I catch myself in bed, about to doze, and it hits me. The last thing I want to do is get up. Easy enough, grab some silicone K-Y and a tissue (it’s already right by the bed, right?), and use it as eye make-up remover. (It doesn’t work on waterproof mascara.)
3. Shave with it
If you run out of shaving cream, you can use K-Y. Or if you’re like me, and pressed for time but really need to shave under your arms, use some lube. Be sure to rinse it off when you’re done.
4. Remove sticker residue
Who’s kid is obsessed with stickers?
*Every parent with a toddler raises their hand.*
My toddler likes to put them on windows. Awesome.
Just rub some lube on it for a bit, and then wipe it off.I don’t want to admit to myself how often I’ll have to use this one…
5. Fix a stuck zipper
Dab a tiny bit of lube on the annoying zipper and viola! It’s not stuck anymore. Be sure to be careful not to touch any fabric in case it might stain.
6. Shine your shoes
You can use silicone based lube to shine your patent leather shoes or boots. I don’t have leather shoes, so I tried it on my couch (in an inconspicuous spot), and it turned out really nice. It looks and feels “healthier”…if leather can do that sort of thing.
7. Hair gel
Usually I wear my hair up in the standard “mom bun,” but sometimes I have to let it down. When I do, it’s poofy, and out of control. If you have crazy fly-away hair like me, and need a quick fix, put some K-Y in your hands, and smooth it on your hair. But remember, just a dab will do!
8. Remove a ring
Have you ever had that feeling of panic while trying to remove a ring? When I was pregnant with my first, I kept my wedding ring on as long as I could. That was a mistake. Once I finally gave in, it was really hard to get off! If you end up waiting as long as I did, no biggie, just throw a bit of K-Y on your finger, and your ring will come right off!
9. Make an Ice Pack
Put it in a plastic baggie, seal it, and freeze it.Use it on an injury to help reduce swelling. With little ones always getting hurt, this will be great in a pinch!
There you have it. Now you know the entire house can benefit from your stash of K-Y, not just the bedroom.
