After all of my Holiday baking, I had a few random leftover ingredients.
Specifically, a bag of caramels, and some evaporated milk. Both are things that I will have no use for until our next cookie baking extravaganza.
Not wanting them to go to waste, I decided to make some caramel sauce to use in my coffee.
It ended up exceeding my expectations, so I thought I’d share with you.
You will need:
11 ounce bag of caramels
1/2 cup evaporated milk
Unwrap all of the caramels and throw them in a microwave-safe dish along with the evaporated milk.
Microwave on high for a minute. Stir. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat until the caramels are melted and your caramel sauce is smooth. Any of this sound familiar? Knock You Naked Brownies, anyone?
If you want a thicker caramel sauce, use less evaporated milk.
Put sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator.Use it on coffee, ice cream, or even add it to your wicked awesome hot chocolate bar on Christmas morning.
Whatever you do with it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
Do you have any random leftover ingredients from your baking this year? Do you have a plan for them? Please share!!

December 23, 2015 at 8:26 amThis looks awesome! BTW your naked brownies inspired me and I made my own version using box brownie mix and then I melted caramel with a bit of milk in the microwave and poured it in between layers or brownie before cooking.. OMG SO GOOD!!

January 1, 2016 at 4:26 pmWhat a great idea Tarynn! I don’t have an extra bag of caramels but I might go and get some to create this sauce but I would probably drizzle it on hot chocolate or mochas. I have a weakness for those.
